Anyway, I was checking out her website and found this recipe that I thought sounded interesting. Per usual, I made some adjustments (mostly’ cause the grocery store didn’t have purple basil — so I used the basil from the store — or nectarines — so I used peaches).
Ms. Hart says this is a beauty boosting smoothie because:
” The flavonoids in basil protect your cells from age-advancing (pro-wrinkling) oxidative damage, while [peaches] are filled with collagen-building vitamin C and skin-smoothing vitamin A. Hemp seeds are one of my favorite vegetarian sources of protein, healthy and fats and beauty minerals, and they give this smoothie substance.”
I’m gonna be honest, it’s definitely a very “green tasting” smoothie. I personally love it, but if you you don’t like basil, steer clear.
Here is what you will need for 1 smoothie:
1/4 cup of basil
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tablespoon hemp seeds
2 ice cubes (optional)
Mix it all together and blend! I use a NutriBullet for all my smoothies — it’s so fast and convenient!
