Girl On The Fly: Breakfast Shake


This is the staple breakfast shake in our house. The ingredients vary a little depending on what we’ve got going on (e.g. if we’re working out more we’ll throw in some vegan protein powder), but this recipe is the way I make it most of the time, and it’s so darn good. Best part is it takes just a couple of minutes to make and you can take it with you on the road no prob!

3 dates

1 frozen banana

1 1/2 cups coconut or almond milk

1 tbsp almond butter

6 ice cubes

1/2 tsp bee pollen (energy enhancer, immune booster, anti-allergen)

1 tbsp maca powder (libido and stamina booster! woo!!)

1 tsp raw cacao powder (anti-aging/anti-inflammatory)

1 tbsp chia fiber (supports “regularity” LOL, healthy weight and cardiovascular health)

Dash of cinnamon

Throw it all in a blender and you’re good to go. I use a Nutri-Bullet to make mine — this thing is a lifesaver! Not only do I use it for smoothies but I use it to puree soups, mince veggies, etc.
