Nothing beats sitting by the fireplace, sipping on a cup of delicious hot chocolate and watching an old, black and white movie. Here are my favorite hot chocolate recipes for you to try!

Coconut Tres Leches Hot Chocolate by Mel’s Kitchen Café

Ingredients: (serves 4 cups)

  • 2 cups milk (any)
  • 1 (14-ounce) can unsweetened coconut milk, light or regular
  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk (about 1/2 of a 14-ounce can)
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • Sweetened whipped cream (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)


  • Combine the milk, coconut milk and sweetened condensed milk in a saucepan and whisk. Bring the mixture to a medium simmer, stirring.
  • Once simmering, whisk in the cocoa powder until you have a smooth texture.
  • Stir in the vanilla and serve with whipped cream or chocolate shavings.

Nutella Hot Chocolate by The Hungry Housewife

Ingredients: (serves 1 cup)

  • 1 cup milk (any)
  • 2 ½ Tbsp of Nutella
  • 1 Tbsp of Cocoa
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whipped cream (optional)


  • Whisk all ingredients together until blended and hot in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  • Serve with whipped cream or cinnamon for spice.

Lavender Hot Chocolate by A La Mode

Ingredients: (serves 2 cups)

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 3 ounces dark chocolate (70% cacao)
  • 1 ounce milk chocolate
  • 1/4 Tspn lavender buds
  • Whipped cream (optional)


  • Heat milk and lavender over medium heat, whisking until simmering.
  • Remove from heat and let lavender steep for 5 minutes. Strain lavender and return milk to saucepan.
  • Over medium heat, add chocolate and mix until chocolate is melted.
  • Whisk milk mixture for 10-20 seconds until frothy.
  • Serve with whipped cream and lavender bits.
