The Final Four is finally here. We’re down to four men and four women. All of them certainly have a chance to win the Australian Open.
Both women’s semifinals will be held today, with one of the men’s matches tonight. I’m expecting the matches to be competitive, with lots of tension. After all, there is a lot at stake.
Here’s my predictions for today’s semifinals.
Maria Sharapova vs. Ekatarina Makarova: The battle of the Russians. Sharapova is 5-0 lifetime, and has played in a lot more semifinals in her career than Makarova. Makarova is playing well, but I think Maria is simply at another level than Ekatarina.
Winner: Sharapova in two sets
Serena Williams vs. Madison Keys: The battle of Americans. Serena finally looked like Serena inthe quarters. Madison beat Venus Williams, but how will her injured thigh hold up? Serena obviously has an edge in experience. However if healthy, Madison can hit with serena, but still …
Winner: Williams in two sets
Tomas Berdych vs. Andy Murray: Can Berdych keep up his level? He hasn’t dropped a set this slam. Berdych actually leads the head-to-head 6-4, which I find surprising. Murray has been playing as well as anybody in the tourney. I think it’s time for Murray to start to turn that head-to-head around.
Winner: Murray in four sets
