Jameis Winston came into the NFL Combine under scrutiny for his off the field actions and poor performance in his final collegiate game against Oregon. Winston pretty much silenced these critics however with an outstanding performance this past week. I normally don’t take the Combine very seriously when evaluating players, but there is one part of the Combine that I do care about and that is the interviews. The interviews can show a prospect’s maturity, composure, and leadership ability as well as play recognition. Winston excelled in this interviews and impressed a lot of people with his ability to decipher plays and how he conducted himself in general. This bodes really well for him as maturity was one of his traits in question. His football IQ is high and his throw power and accuracy are solid too. Now that the intangibles aren’t as in doubt, Winston’s draft status as projected first overall shouldn’t be in doubt either.
