If you thought Kyle Lowry hitting that half-court was going to wake up him last night from his playoff shooting funk, think again. After that, he had an airball from 3 and missed another shot.
He looked hesitant to shoot the ball and decided to pass up some shots as well. If that was Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving, or Damian Lillard who made that shot to force overtime, they would be begging to shoot the ball every possession in overtime if they could.
Lowry was an all-star this year and he isn’t playing like one right now. Out of all the players that have played so far in these playoffs, he is tied for 41st in points per game in these playoffs with 13.
Out of the point guards that are still remaining in these playoffs these players have a better Points Per Game than he does: Kyrie Irving who is ranked 3rd with 26.2 ppg, Russell Westbrook who is ranked 6th with 24.7 ppg, Damian Lillard who is ranked 8th with 23.4 ppg, Goran Dragic is who ranked 23rd with 15.6 ppg, and Jeff Teague who is ranked 24th with 15.3 ppg.
Irving, Lillard, Dragic, and Teague didn’t make the all-star game this season, but they are all-star caliber players however. That being said, Lowry is shooting 30.6% from the field in these playoffs. It is actually not great but not terrible either.
Goran Dragic, Russell Westbrook, and Kyrie Irving are all shooting over 40% from the field. Damian Lillard and Jeff Teague are just under 40%.
He is actually doing a good job in the assists category of averaging 7.4 apg, but his teammates bail him out. I don’t see the will in him taking over a game like Steph Curry, Russell Westbrook, Kyrie Irving, or Damian Lillard could.
If Lowry doesn’t figure out his shooting slump anytime soon, the Raptors could be eliminated.
